Paul Meyer Obituary, Death – On February 5, 2016, Paul E. Meyer passed away at his home in Titusville at the age of 86. He was accompanied by his family and Mocha, his devoted German Shepherd at the time of his passing. Paul Meyer was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1929 to parents Frank and Mildred Meyer. He spent his childhood in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, where he graduated from Lancaster High School and Franklin & Marshall College before going on to serve in the United States Air Force in Korea.
In the midst of the Apollo space program’s most productive years, he and his family relocated to Brevard County as a result of his employment with Bendix. It was well known that he possessed a photographic memory, which proved to be an asset for him throughout his engineering career. Until he reached his retirement age in his seventies, he held the position of requirements analyst at USA.
When he passed away, he was one of the organization’s oldest original Grand Knights, having been an active member of the Knights of Columbus Titusville Council 5667 for a good number of years and being one of its founding Grand Knights. Every single one of us believed that we were our leader’s favorite. Dad, who is not one to wear his feelings on his sleeve, revealed lately that he has never once questioned his decision to give up his flying profession for the sake of the love he has for his family.
Agnes, his wife, and Daniel James, his newborn baby, both passed away before he did. Agnes died first, followed by Daniel James. Survivors include his six children: Paul E. Meyer, Jr. (Hilda), Mims, Fl, Rita G. Meyer (Charlie), Cocoa, FL, Jeanne M. Meyer, Orlando, FL, Matthew G. Meyer, Sebring, FL, Annette M. Carson (Ken), Port St. John and James F. Meyer, Pensacola; four granddaughters: Geneva, Christina, Andrea and Breanne; and three great-granddaughters: Hailey, Kendal and Madison.
